An academic project gave birth to Coolpaste, the ecological alter ego of our faithful old toothpaste. The goal was to develop a sustainable packaging design for the toothpaste in a way that did not affect its durability when transported or stacked on shelves. For the purpose of the project, Colgate toothpaste was used as an object of study. Coolpaste not only underwent a more environmentally friendly physical transformation, but the graphic elements of the product were also refreshed to reflect the purpose of the project. The paper box was removed after careful point-of-sale study without affecting the integrity of the toothpaste.
We are always on the lookout for a great packaging design and this one really is the best! Quite simply, it is shaped like a cow udder which is not only cute but ergonomic. Four small nipples give it a little stability and something to hold on when you pour a glass of cold milk! Available in different cute hues, honestly I wouldn’t mind having a glass of milk every morning if I saw this cow inspired cardboard every day!
This series of distinctive shapes was created by the repetitive combination of the same six-pointed shape; by rearranging the shape in different configurations and patterns, a wide range of shapes and shapes can be created! The extremely flexible, sponge-like shape can be used to hold items ranging from fruits and vegetables to protect them from drops, to pens and pencils when configured into a striking pencil case!
Srisangdao rice grows in Thailand in a controlled environment and every year only a limited quality is produced. Due to the peculiarity of rice, the environment in which it grows and the way it is stored are taken with great care ensuring that no chemicals affect the quality. To showcase Thung Kula Ronghai’s efforts to cultivate this magnificent grain, a designer reinvented the packaging as a tribute to the process with a goal that went beyond rice preservation. The packaging is created from glitter, a natural waste from husking, which quite literally incorporates the process that the designers wanted to celebrate through this product. The box has simple but meaningful art surrounding Srisangdao rice – it is cookie-cutter formed with an oversized raised grain of rice which is the main artistic element.
Made from seaweed and vegetable extracts, these low calorie packs can be used as edible wrappers for snacks and soluble sachets that add extra nutritional value to your foods like vitamins, minerals as well as polysaccharides that support your gut health. The seaweed extract is then dehydrated and the prototypes are examined in different temperature settings as well as tested for their waterproof properties.
Called the Hutchinson bottle (designed in 1894), the straight-rimmed bottle with a bulbous neck is now reissued as packaging for the Coca-Cola series of blenders. The design of the bottle has an aesthetic that complements its bar category, making it the perfect choice. Available in four distinct flavor profiles, woody, spicy, herbal, and smoky, and designed for use with dark spirits like whiskey and dark rum, the bottles come with a white label and taped cap, all quite a departure from soft drinks. otherwise a very red design, but rather a tip of the hat for the association of the drink with the mixology.
‘Trebodur’ is an organic material made entirely from brewers’ grains! Brewing grains are the residues that build up from barley malt during the uterization process in the making of beer. So what is it that binds the material together to give it strength? The proteins contained in the grains act as a natural binder, it is now a self-sufficient material! The creators Niko and Tillmann carried out extensive research and several experiments with natural fibers and binders. Being 100% biodegradable, Trebodur is a perfect choice for creating products that are used and launched at large events or even in PR packaging. It can be used for all kinds of packaging products and become a substitute material for paper and plastic packaging.
Rice is what the house would look like on a plate and that’s what Backbone Branding has conveyed with its redesigned packaging design. The aim was to evoke an emotional response for rice farmers while also being functional as a product that must be sold in health stores. The new design was minimal, familiar, and reminded us of the humans behind the rice harvest. With these elements at the heart, the new packaging used minimal black graphic lines to show the different emotions one feels during the process – the faces radiate confidence, pride, satisfaction, empathy and even fatigue.
This old Amsterdam cheese covers the brie-long with your cheese because it understands the stuff of the heart. No, it literally does – this blanket is designed in a way that highlights the core of your cheese and also protects it. The conceptual cheese blanket is aptly named “El Corazon” which translates to “the heart”. The heart of old Amsterdam cheese is usually served as a tapas or appetizer and therefore deserves to be on display as the highlight of the snack bar that it is. The case also extends the life of the cheese in the refrigerator while transforming into a functional display case when needed.
Lurtcevich took an ordinary rectangular box, the usual kind in which spaghetti is normally sold. However, she created six smart partitions using just one sheet of paper. The bright red pasta filled box has six trapezoidal sections filled with spaghetti, one section equals one serving of spaghetti. So, the Lurtcevich package contains six servings of pasta, enough for an intimate get-together that you could have at home! The opening of each measured section is delimited by perforations, three in the front and three more in the back of the box. Open the package along the perforated lines, pulling it slowly towards you. Fish the portion of spaghetti you need and start cooking!
