Gettysburg PA 's finest Bed and Breakfast! INN AT HERR RIDGE, which was established as a tavern and public house in 1815 by Thomas Sweeney. In 1828 he sold his tavern to Fredrick Herr. Mr Herr operated the tavern until his death in 1869 when it became the Reynolds Hotel for about 10 years, catering to the many tourists that were coming to the now famous historic Gettysburg Battlefield. The Tavern then became a private residence until 1978 when the Herr Tavern was again open to the public.
