The Savannah Beach Inn on Tybee Island, GA, was built in 1898 to house ranking officers and their families at Fort Screven (active from 1898-1945 and on the National Register of Historic Places). The Savannah Beach Inn is one of nine grandiose homes situated on a bluff near the beach known as Officers Row. The inn is situated on a bluff known as Officers Row with a great view of the Atlantic. It features a huge wrap around porch, ornate tin ceilings, and a uniquely designed period kitchen that is a favorite gathering place for guests. The Inn features views of the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to Savannah Harbor.
Tybee Island is the perfect vacation spot for both seafarers and land lovers. Its proximity to the beach and to Savannah offers a lot of possibilities for historic sightseeing, water sports, sunbathing and enjoying native seafood at one of Tybee's great restaurants. The Tybee Historic Society has a museum nearby and the Lighthouse is on tour.
Close to Savannah (15 miles) yet across from the beach and steps from the Tybee Lighthouse.
