Hidden behind dogwood, redbud and sweet gum trees, the Old Bethlehem School Cottage is an out of the way retreat in the Metropolis area in beautiful Southern Illinois, "America's Best Kept Secret". It is set at the edge of Shawnee National Forest, with scenic views of the hills in the forest.

Out of the way, but easily accessible (1/2 mile from IL Hwy. 145), it is located 15 miles north of Paducah, Kentucky, home of the Museum of American Quilters Society (MAQS) and the American Quilters Convent-ion. It is 13 miles northeast of Players Island Casino in (Superman City), Metropolis, and 5 miles south of Dixon Springs State Park.
