Thousand Islands Inn, Clayton, New York

The Thousand Islands Inn opened in 1897 and is now beginning its second century of serving 1000 Islands visitors. Over the first 100 years it has played a major part in both Clayton's and the region's history.

On May 12, 1997, just four days before it began its 100th Anniversary season, the Thousand Islands Inn was placed on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. Four days later, as it opened for its centennial season, it was presented a Certificate of Special Recognition from the United States House of Representatives by Congressman John M. McHugh, declaring it one of the "Treasures of the North Country." It was also issued a Certificate of Merit by New York State Senator Jim Wright, on behalf of the Senate, in recognition of achieving a century of service to the 1000 Islands region.
