Rice Lake State Park Campground, Owatonna, Minnesota

Long ago, American Indians harvested wild rice from this lake where today, the shallow waters and marshy edges of Rice Lake attract many waterfowl during migrations. Rice Lake is a major wetland in the area. Visitors enjoy camping under the tall hardwoods, photographing spring wildflowers, picnicking, and birdwatching. For a more secluded camping experience, paddle across the lake and camp in a canoe campsite. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the trails.

Located 7 miles east of Owatonna on Rose Street. From Hwy 35, take exit 42A. Follow the signs to Rose Street. East on Rose Street to the park.

The park is open for camping and day-use activities year-round. Minnesota has enacted legislation that restricts firewood being brought to or used on DNR lands. Complete information and lists of vendors and locations where approved firewood is available are posted on the DNR Web site.

Drive-in Sites - 42 Sites - All are back-in sites. Sites vary from open to wooded.
Electric Sites - 16 Sites - All electric sites are in the "B" loop. RV Length Limit 55 Feet
Length is measured from front of tow vehicle to rear of vehicle being towed.
Handicapped Accessible Sites - One site
Walk-in Sites - 5 Sites. Farthest site is 25 yards from parking area. Easy walk in. All sites are rustic.
Cart-in Sites - 4 Sites. Longest walk is 100 yards. Easy walk. Rustic sites. All are lakeside sites.
Canoe Sites - 5 Sites
Group Camp - One Site - This is a rustic site accommodating up to 60 people. There is access to a vault toilet. For group camp reservations, contact the state park reservation system by phone or online.

Flush Toilets - Handicapped Accessible - Located in "A" loop of the campground.
Vault Toilets - Throughout Park - Some available year round.
Dump Station - Within 10 Miles - Available year round. Three are located in Owatonna.
