Metter's beginning, like many other small cities in Georgia, relates to the railroad. The city was established solely as a stop on the railroad. Supposedly, the City of Metter was named by a railroad official for his wife because he "met her" in Metter.
The "Historical South" covers a significant part of Georgia. the Historic South mixes a rich cultural heritage of music and literature with bountiful agriculture, landmarks of the past, and a calendar filled with entertaining festivals of all sorts.
The park has 250 acres with camping consisting of full services RV sites second to none with amenities that will make you feel like you are right at home. In the RV park, you will find a club house and a screened pavilion with tables for meeting, eating or just enjoying good company.
