Rock Ledge Manor B & B, Rye, New Hampshire

Rock Ledge Manor's white gambrel-roofed inn with traditional wrap around porch overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, just south of Wallis Sands and Rye State Beach. The inn, built between 1840 and 1880 as part of a major seaside resort, has a style that is pure Victorian gingerbread. From its prominent knoll, you can enjoy the seascape as well as the Manor's lovely old-fashioned cottage gardens.

From our porch, watch the lobstermen haul in their catch, or the sail boats cruise from Portsmouth and Rye Harbor on their way to the Isles of Shoals. From May to October, catch a cruise from either Rye Harbor or Portsmouth to enjoy whale watching and sight-seeing trips. Enjoy scenic walks along the shoreline, and bask in the picturesque sunrise and sunset. Or relax in our Adirondack chairs while sipping a cool beverage. Sink into a good beach book, if you can tear your eyes from the mesmerizing sea! You are only 5 minutes to the sandy beach, and ten minutes from historic Portsmouth with its museums, galleries, harborside restaurants, and all-year schedule of special events.

Our two ground floor queen-size bedrooms offer ocean views, private baths, and A.C. Marble-top sinks and dressers are part of the authentic Victorian style of these rooms, as are the brass-and-iron beds and the languidly turning paddles of the ceiling fans.

Our suite, located on the second floor, provides views of the sunrise and sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to a queen-size bed, enjoy the coziness of your own sitting room with a pullout sofa bed, an oversized private shower, A.C., two paddle ceiling fans, TV, and handmade quilts.
