Charlemont Inn, Charlemont, Massachusetts

Built in 1787 in Charlemont, MA., The Charlemont Inn has served Mohawk Trail travelers for over 215 years. In this historic tradition, we offer reasonable and attractive guest rooms to suit the needs of all types of travelers. Guests of The Inn can be assured of a gracious welcome and a good night's sleep - but that is only the beginning.

The Charlemont Inn is now over 200 years old and the guest list, over time, is bountiful. Benedict Arnold stayed here on his way to Ticonderoga. He had an honest night's rest. British General John Burgoyne stayed after his defeat at Saratoga. The general needed a little rest and recuperation. Mark Twain stayed and it's safe to say he said something. President Calvin Coolidge stayed and it's safe to say he said nothing. Maybe Washington slept here. It seems he slept almost everywhere!

The Mohawk Trail is defined by The Berkshires, a range of steep wooded hills set amidst a rolling landscape of great beauty conducive to year-round activity. If you love the outdoors, the area provides white water rafting and boating, mountain biking, hiking, hunting and fishing. During summer, the area hosts many cultural festivals, the music festival at Tanglewood, and the Mohawk Trail Concert Series in Charlemont. Ski resorts attract visitors in the winter, and the autumn foliage in The Berkshires is regarded as the most colorful in New England. (See Useful Links)
