The Daisy Polk Inn, Dallas, Texas
The Daisy Polk Inn was originally built in 1904 and the restoration of this lovely Arts and Crafts home was completed in 2002. The Inn is named for its long-time owner, Miss Daisy Polk, who occupied the home for over 60 years. Miss Polk was an “up and coming star” in the Dallas opera world according to the Dallas Press. She studied in Europe with Caruso and taught at the prestigious Hockaday School for girls in Dallas. The report from her cousin, Mr. Lucius Polk of Houston, Texas, who inherited the home when Miss Daisy died, is that Miss Daisy was very involved in entertaining American troops who were being shipped overseas during the Second World War.
The accommodations in the main house are the Daisy Suite, the Reagan Suite and the Dickason Suite. All suites have private bath facilities. The Daisy Suite and the Reagan Suite have queen size beds and the Dickason Suite has a double bed. The rates for the Daisy Suite and the Reagan Suite are $169.00 per night [2009 prices]. The Dickason Suite rate is $139.00 per night. A two night minimum is required on weekends and holidays. The room rates include breakfast with freshly baked muffins, scones and other tasty treats.
