This section of the Upper West Side is more native than tourist. Our bed and breakfast is centrally located and just far enough from the obvious that we can justify the paradox Country Inn the City. Although we have nothing against Times Square (a ten minute subway ride) we are in a sense the anti-Times Square. Many affluent New Yorkers have chosen to settle here and with good reason, but there is a lot more to our location than just affluent New York.

Historically the Upper West Side has been the domain of the artist and the outsider, and vestiges of both still remain; the perfect place then for Country Inn the City to pursue the elusive best of both worlds experience.

Each bed and breakfast apartment is individually decorated and features a queen bed with a generously-sized living area, a private galley kitchenette, and private bathroom. (No elevator) All our studio apartments feature approx. 550 sq. ft. of living space (far more than your average NYC hotel room); nine foot ceilings, one queen sized bed, color TV, private bath/shower, well-equipped kitchenettes, air conditioning, telephone/answering machines (free local calls), welcome food supplies (cereal, fresh gourmet coffee, teas, milk/half and half, fresh fruit), hairdryers, iron and ironing board, and sound-proofing insulation.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our mattresses. All bedding is hypo-allergenic and dust-mite protected. Please note that we do not provide shampoo/moisturizer for reasons of cost-cutting, but we do of course provide soap.

NEW: Free secure wifi high-speed internet. Microwaves in all apartments (plus gas stoves and refrigerator). Premium cable television in apartments 5 and 6. Basic channels in apartments 2 and 4 due to wiring ref. historic building.
