Market Street Inn, Newburyport, Massachusetts

Two great downtown locations, The Market Street Inn and The Greenleaf Inn! We offer travelers some of Newburyport's most charming yet inexpensive guest lodging and extended stay options. Perfect for families on vacation. Our accommodations are cozy and casual. Guests can choose from furnished apartments with fully equipped kitchens, or B&B style rooms. All you need to bring is a suitcase! We take care of the rest. Each suite has cable TV, VCR/DVD and wireless Internet. Reserve by the night, week or month. Our location is ideal for visitors coming to Newburyport and the North Shore for stays of a few days, a week or a month. In six historic houses we offer guests a complete range of accommodations including overnight, weekly and extended stay residential suites with full kitchens.

We are in the heart of a picturesque seaport established in the 18th century along the Merrimac River. Many of the graceful Clipper ships that carried early American trade to the East Indies were launched on the shores of this great river town not 200 yards from where you will be staying.

Our guest suites range from studios to full-size one-bedroom apartments, all beautifully furnished with country antiques and oriental rugs. Each of our thirty individually decorated suites includes a kitchen, private bath, living room area and bedroom. We include ALL utilities in our price--heat, electricity, cable TV and local phone service. You have only one living expense. Some of the larger suites have private, off-street parking, but for others street parking is always available and safe.

Our classic Federalist-period houses, built in the early 1800s, contain wide pine floors carefully restored to a rich "pumpkin" color, Rutherford fireplaces and many original moldings, including wainscoting.

The Colonial house, a classic Georgian with Gambrel roof, pre-dates the Federalist period and was built around 1770. Many of its floorboards are cut from the "King's Pine," the virgin coastal trees that were earmarked to go to England for ship's masts. Apparently, the colonists had better uses for them! Some of these floorboards are a full two feet wide.
