Hawthorn House, Nantucket, Massachusetts

Built in 1849, the Hawthorn House combines lovely accommodations with a superior location. Situated on Chestnut Street, in the center of Nantucket’s historic downtown area, the Hawthorn House is surrounded by many of the finest shops, museums and restaurants the island has to offer and is just blocks from the ferries.

Each of our guestrooms is tastefully decorated with hand-hooked rugs, stained glass lamps, hand-made quilts and new and antique furnishings. The innkeepers’ love of art is evidenced by the works of many of Nantucket’s most talented artists and craftspeople on display throughout the house. Included in the room rate are complimentary vouchers worth $9/person/day towards breakfast at two local restaurants--Arnos and The Even Keel on Main Street. This arrangement provides our guests with a variety of menu options and flexible dining times for all but a few months in the winter when the restaurants close.

All of our rooms are air-conditioned in season. All have private baths, free WiFi internet and cable TV and most are equipped with small refrigerators. The Hawthorn House is smoke-free, however we do have a covered porch with rocking chairs that our guests are welcome to use. There is a phone available for use by our guests and we are equipped to send and receive faxes.

Occasionally guests wish to travel with their pets. While the Hawthorn House is not equipped to accommodate pets, our MSPCA, located just outside of town, has a state-of-the-art boarding facility.
