Step back to the late 1800's. Imagine a Victorian world set in a bustling Kansas frontier town, home to the United States Land Office. Hundreds came each day looking for a new home. In 1886 their first night's stay would have been at the Oberlin House, the St. James or other inns that rivaled their counterparts to the east. After claiming their 160 acres of Kansas prairie they were off to the brand new "Bank of Oberlin" to set up their banking business in their new hometown. Of the Bank of Oberlin's completion, the Oberlin Eye (Sept.23,1886) said "...It is the prettiest building in the city and elicits words of praise from the many who see the city. Such buildings, beautiful, permanent, and durable are of incalculable value to Oberlin...And strengthen the onward march of the Queen City of Northwest Kansas."

Fireside Suite - Named after the antique gas fireplace that graces this room. This cozy suite features a fringed full size canopy bed, a small sitting room with Victorian furniture and a bathroom complete with antique advertising items and a tub/shower combination. This room has a TV/VCR combination.

Carriage House Loft Suite- This two room suite features a bedroom with a mission style queen size bed and a vanity/sink combination, an adjacent sitting room with wicker furnishings, TV/VCR and a second pull down bed. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination and a second sink. This room strays from the Victorian charm of the rest of the building and features early 1900's arts and crafts paneling, and wallpaper in the style of Frank Loyd Wright.

Ad Astra Suite - This ground floor room's namesake is the Kansas State Motto, "To the stars through difficulties". This Victorian room is done in blues and mauves features handicap accessible doorways and bathroom, an adjustable queen size bed, a leaded glass window, walnut furnishings and TV. The accessible bathroom has a accessible shower.

Judges Chambers Suite - The Bank of Oberlin building became the Decatur County Courthouse in 1896 after the failure of the bank. The prominent second floor corner office became the Judge's Chambers. Evidence of this was found during restoration as upon removing the old wallpaper the name "Judge Webb Bertram" was found written on all four walls of the room. This room features Victorian mauve, green and purple wall paper and curtains, a tall walnut queen size Victorian bed, Victorian settee and a TV/VCR combination. The spacious bathroom features a claw foot tub & shower, walnut vanity and a stained glass window.

R.A. Marks Suite- Named after the Bank of Oberlin's founder, the room features a spoon carved queen sized bedroom set, a vintage Murphy bed, a unique Victorian corner sink, a mounted bobcat and a large original picture of Buffalo Bill Cody who spent time in this area. The room is dark green and has stenciled 1880's wallpaper border. The room also has a TV. The bathroom has an antique sink and a shower.

Cottage Victorian Suite - This room is named after the room's unique furnishings. The Cottage Victorian style is stenciled pine furniture that was more affordable in the 1800's but is rare today because it was usually discarded when a family could afford hardwood furnishings. The yellow rose stenciled set includes two queen size beds and a desk. The bathroom has an antique pedestal sink and a tub/shower combination.
