James Laing, a successful coal mine owner, built this stately home in 1904. This lovely three-story stone house features eight bedrooms and six "tigered" oak fireplaces and is listed on the National Historic Register.

Mr. Laing developed a friendship with Andrew Carnegie of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was instrumental in securing funds for Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. Located only one block from the Laing House, Carnegie Hall is an important cultural arts center for Greenbrier County and surrounding communities. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our elegant dining room before exploring Lewisburg's historic district.

The Laing Home was recently featured on the HGTV network show, "If Walls Could Talk." Walk to downtown shops, restaurants and historic sites.
