Nestled beneath tall pines and billowing maples, with the island's most panoramic view of Frenchman Bay and mountains of Acadia, Covend Inn offers guests the ambiance and charm expected from Downeast Maine. Our family-operated inn is located on Route 3 in the Village of Hull's Cove. From here, downtown Bar Harbor is a scant 3-mile drive and the Acadia National Park Visitor Center is only a half-mile from our door.
All of our guests are invited to enjoy our rowboat, or the outdoor hot tub. Both are great ways to relax and unwind after the day's activities. Each morning, let the aroma of fresh-brewed coffees and homemade blueberry muffins drift upstairs to your room and invite you down to the sun porch for an informal continental breakfast. We try to provide a selection which will appeal to everyone by including fresh fruits, juice, bakery items, cereal and milk and other seasonal surprises.
From our front lawn overlooking Frenchman Bay, a series of decks and stairs serve as a pathway to the beach and also offer sitting and viewing pleasure. People of all ages enjoy strolling along our beach and collecting various shells and sea glass.
Spacious rooms, tastefully decorated, are unique in detail and include private baths, cable television, ceiling fans and most have ocean views.
The Pink Room .... An antique spinning wheel and bureau hint of old fashioned romance in this beautiful room with queen size bed. Private balcony, high vaulted ceiling, ocean view facing majestic Cadillac Mountain.
The Duck Room ...From sheets to shower curtain, this cozy chamber features the "duck motif" throughout. Old fashioned 4-poster double bed, amoire closet and built-in stained glass window lend simple charm to this non-view room.
The Front Room ...Front and center of the house, this room with double beds has an "eyefull" of view. With pleasing shades of rose and lavender, this spacious retreat is accented with white wicker furniture.
The Nautical Room ...Deep shades of blue and rich wood tones highlight this room featuring an antique double bed with 5-ft headboard. A kitchenette, stocked with dishes, and antique framed nautical documents on a wall papered with old sea navigation charts complete this delightful "Captain's Quarters!"
We also have a Carriage House, adjacent to our inn, which features two "cottage-style" apartments. With a more rustic flavor, these units are great for families who want a little more space and the ability to do some of their own cooking. Each apartment comes complete with dishes and linens.
Apartment #1...We refer to this one a "the dollhouse" because it has a miniature quality which kids love. Kitchen, living room combo downstairs, color cable TV, and a loft-style area with two sleeping areas. Bath has a large tub, no shower. Electric heat, fans for summertime, small window in the kids' room provides the only view.
Apartment #2...Walk into a large living room with double picture window giving a gorgeous view of the harbor and mountains. Practically on top of the water, this good-sized unit has separate bedroom with queen-size bed, bath with shower (no tub), and complete kitchen. Color cable TV, electric heat, fans.
