Or if you prefer, travel on picturesque River Road 15 miles in the other direction to Boothbay Harbor and the beautiful new Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. If shopping is your "bag", it's a quick 35 minutes south to Freeport and L. L. Bean as well as the outlets. Looking for art? The Farnsworth Art Museum is in Rockland, 25 minutes north.
