Just walk out the front door of the Old Coast Guard Station, onto the sandy shore of Popham Beach. Take a walk on the 6 mile long sandy beach, watch the seals, ospreys, and cormorants. Enjoy the views of a quaint fishing village, islands, and light houses. Climb to the look-out-tower to view the panoramic vista of the bold Atlantic and the various islands. The red-roofed building constructed in 1883 as a life Saving Station to save stranded mariners from the tide, wind and fog and to keep watch over the mouth of Kennebec River. The U.S. Coast Guard took over the station in 1935 and, in addition to the rescue missions, maintained links to lighthouse crews on Pond and Seguin Islands. Decommissioned in 1971, the station remains a distinct and well-loved- landmark at Popham Beach.
The station offers year round accommodations. Enjoy the casual elegance of our spacious sun-filled rooms with fresh flowers and ocean views. The large rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished. The guest living room looks directly out to the sea. The common rooms are furnished with many unusual antiques from Scotland, Norway, and Belgium.

The Library has a large bay window overlooking the beach, two walls filled to the brim with books, queen bed, tables, comfortable chairs, and private bath. This spacious room was formerly one of the rooms where the boats were stored. $150-$235 [2009 pricing]
The Boatswains room has a queen bed, comfortable chairs, and private bath. $140-$185 [2009 pricing]
The Captain's Quarters, a suite offers a large bedroom with queen bed and other furnishings, sitting room with jotul stove and beach views with private bath. $150-$235 [2009 pricing]
The spacious Bunkroom, redone in nautical blue and white, overlooks the beach. The room has the original built in cabinets, queen bed, sofa, chairs, desk, jotul stove and private bath. This room was the bunk room for seven of the lifesavers. $150-$235 [2009 pricing]
