A lovely way to experience a little of life in Alexandria as it was in the Early Federal Era. This 1816 Old Town Alexandria Townhouse, elegantly furnished with antiques and modern amenities, is on the Alexandria Historic Registry. Captain McGuire built it just after returning from the War of 1812. Lovely, walled garden.
1 block from King Street, 3/4 mile to the Potomac River, dozens of restaurants & shops close. 15 minute drive, subway, or bus to George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon or to the monuments and museums of Washington DC. 10 minute walk, 1/2 mile, to the King Street Metro Subway Station. Under $10.00 by taxi, 4 miles, to Washington National Airport.
Two rooms for Bed and Breakfast.
The 2d Floor Suite has a bedroom with queen size bed, a sitting room with TV, couch, decorative non-functioning fireplace, and a small private bathroom 'en suite', with tub & shower.
The 3d Floor Room features two twin beds with TV, desk, chair, houseline phone and jack, and private bath in the room with a shower.
Breakfast is continental plus. Hair drier. NO SMOKING HOUSE.
The hostess traveled the world with the Foreign Service. She has graciously hosted Bed & Breakfast guests since 1989. Small, quiet dog.
No third person in either room. The B&B Rooms have window air conditioners. The common areas of the house are not air-conditioned, but are usually quite comfortable. Except on short notice, with a favorable weather forecast, 3dFloor Room not booked Jun~Sep due to possible heat
