The Inn is within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants on or near the bayfront, Presque Isle State Park which has the only beaches in Pennsylvania, the Erie Maritime Museum, and the Brig Niagara. It also sits practically on the campus of Gannon University and is very close to Mercyhurst College. Penn State Erie-The Behrend College and Edinboro University of PA are also minutes away.
When you open the front door you are in a spectacular entrance hall with the original wood stairway and stained glass windows leading to a living room with a working fireplace, and a library with a fireplace and a game table that is just waiting for you. Off of the library is the very cozy Shakespeare Room, so called because of the original tiles marking various Shakespeare plays that surround the fireplace .
Opened June 1, 2001, the Inn offers luxurious accommodations in downtown Erie. Experience totally renovated 1886 historic home that is the business traveler's sanctuary and the vacationer's retreat. Expect a full breakfast, data port, cable TV. CD player, individual heating / Air conditioning controls and a private bath.
The rooms have been professionally decorated with an international theme. Each room showcases the owners' travels.
FRANCE: C'est magnifique! Four complementary toile fabrics in yellows and blues will take your breath away in this most elegant of rooms. There is a king-size bed, and a large bath that includes a jacuzzi tub, a separate stall shower, and bidet.
JAPAN: "Arrigato" for this delightful room with soft green linen fabrics. There is a king-size bed and a private bath with smashing wallpaper of a Japanese garden.
SCOTLAND: Do the highland fling in a room painted hunter green with Royal Stewart plaid fabrics. There is a queen-size four poster bed, a working fireplace, and a private bath with a shower.
AFRICA: Take a private safari in a room with leopard and zebra print fabrics and a raffia dust ruffle. There is even a Masai spear on the wall! There is a queen-size bed with a private bath.
...AND a ...Guest Galley on the second floor with an ice machine, microwave, refrigerator stocked with refreshments and snacks and a coffee machine set for an hour before breakfast ! Great Value !
