Deer Lake B&B, Boyne City, Michigan
Tucked between Boyne Falls and Boyne City is Deer Lake B&B, named for the jewel of a lake it overlooks. Five second-floor bedrooms, each with a private bath, individual air conditioning and heat controls. Two of the rooms have cathedral ceilings and French doors lead to private balconies. The other three share a balcony that's 42 feet long. Outfitted with chairs in the summer, they're great places to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the countryside wake up.
Guests gather in the main floor parlor to chat with other guests or curl up with a book. There's a TV and VCR and a fireplace to take the chill off. For guests' use is a refrigerator stocked with soda pop. A full gourmet breakfast is served by candlelight with fine china and crystal.
Between the home and the lake is a small pond that's perfect for a quick swim. A sailboat and paddleboat are available free to guests -- Glenn will give a sailing lesson to first-timers. Lounge chairs await you by the lake. An hour-long jewelry class, making a ring in 14kt gold or sterling silver, is also offered.
