Sandy beaches, marshlands and heavily wooded bluffs comprise the peninsula formed by the North East and Elk Rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay, where this park is located. Several trails meander through the diversified topography, revealing the great variety of plant and animal life. Pets are allowed at Wye, Susquehanna, St. Martens, Miles, Elk and Choptank camping areas. Pets on a leash may only be taken from the campsite to the park store and back. Pets on a leash are permitted on 3 of the 5 trails. Pets are not permitted at Chester, Bohemia and Sassfrass camping areas, the youth group area and in the day use area of the park, including the beach area.
Elk Neck has several new campsites with full hook-ups that are fully A.D.A. accessible including a sidewalk to an accessible bathhouse. Several sites are available for disabled hunters during shotgun and muzzleloader deer seasons.
