The Historic Rand House at "Random,", the former country estate and summer retreat of Rufus Rand, Sr. and wife, Susan. "Random" is one of the last remaining country homes built prior to the turn-of-the century in Wright County by leading Minneapolis families. As James J. Hill's railroad made the countryside easily accessible, many successful industrialists and financiers of the 1880's sought an escape from the bustle and noise of the rapidly growing city in Monticello on the Mississippi River.
